The pages

Twelve pages: nine of the story, and three that ask something else of you.

The First Page

Where the world was first written.

Eight waves on solid ground: learn the Anchor, the Rift, and how the page frays. Let nothing through and the third star is yours.

NOT A SCRATCHAllow no enemies to reach the Anchor.

The Fracture

Something has already torn through this place.

A crack of Void runs through the middle of the page with two crossings left. Bridge it, or let them queue at the gaps and push them in. The wound is a weapon.

USE THE WOUNDDestroy at least 10 enemies using the Void. Any Void counts: the tear that was already here, ground that crumbles, or ground you cut.

The Margins

The edge of the page is where it tears first.

The Anchor stands in the margin, and the edges are where the page frays fastest. There is Thread to spare here only if you spend it well.

The Crystal Seam BOSS

Something in the page has gone hard.

A seam of Void-crystal has grown across the page and split it in two. Three waves come through the gaps, and then the seam gets up and walks: a slab of the stuff that stomps the ground it crosses, hits structures twice as hard as anything else, and barely notices a Pusher. Three pulses land together or it does not move at all.

HOLD THE ANCHORFinish with at least 50% Anchor health.
MEND NOTHINGHold the page without ever building a Patcher. The Golem cracks whatever it walks on - beat it by choosing where it walks, not by repairing behind it.

Torn Crossing

Two lands, two threads between them.

Two lands joined by two narrow necks. Cut one and the whole invasion goes the other way; cut the ground beside a Pusher and the invasion goes nowhere at all.

CHOSEN LOSSESMake 8 Sacrifice Kills: knock enemies into Void you created with Cut The Thread. Falls into natural Void do not count.

The Fork

The Void found two ways in.

The Void opens twice, above and below a wedge of nothing. Two approaches, one Anchor, and not enough Stitchers to cover both: Pushers, Patchers and the Void itself must do the work.

The Other Hand BOSS

Someone else is writing on this page.

The ground here is being edited while you stand on it. Five waves soften the page, and then the one doing it arrives: a caster who frays everything around himself as he walks and strikes the Anchor from well back. Nothing he ruins is permanent - but he is faster at ruining than you are at mending.

Last Fragment

All that is left. All that there is.

All that is left of the page. Not thirty-six percent of a world: this is the whole world now, and every tile is worth holding. Fifteen waves. Win by choosing what you can afford to lose.

The White Space BOSS

The world ends where the Eraser begins.

Part of this page is already gone, and the thing that took it is coming for the rest. Two waves to dig in, then The Eraser: it rubs tiles out for good, scars the ground you can still mend, and draws itself a path across any Void you cut. Keep enough of the level existing.

The Long Hold

Two doors, and no last wave in sight.

Twenty waves through two rifts on opposite edges, from a page that only writes five of them: every time round, the same waves come back heavier, in greater numbers, with less time to breathe between them. The Void Mage arrives on the fifth.

Until The Ink Dries

Ten minutes. The page decides the rest.

A clock instead of a wave count: hold for ten minutes and the ink sets. Waves come with barely any preparation and keep coming, and the page throws events more often than any story page. A Crystal Golem walks in on the fifth wave of every round.

What's Left

However long you hold it, it ends the same way.

The largest page there is, two rifts, and no victory written anywhere on it. The waves repeat and grow until the Anchor falls, and the only question the page asks is how far you got. Stars are distances, not wins; your best is remembered.
