A stone page floating in the Void, riddled with holes, with a ghostly figure walking it past two defensive structures.

A tower defence game set in The Unfinish’d

Hold The World Together

A tower defence game on a world that is coming apart.

Build along the road the Unwritten walk, hold the World Anchor, and cut away your own ground to drop what is on it. Free in your browser, with no sign-up.

In development. Playable now, and nowhere near done.

The idea

A world that was never finished.

Each level is a page of it: a floating island of written ground with a World Anchor holding it together, and a tear in the page that the Unwritten climb out of. You build along their road, hold the Anchor, and try to keep the page from coming undone.

The twist is the ground. It is not scenery. It decays, it falls into the Void, and you can cut it away yourself to drop what is walking on it. A page you finish with holes in it still counts, so long as the Anchor stands.

Only the World Anchor’s health reaching zero ends a run. Everything else is a question of how much of the page you can keep.

Screenshots

Straight from the game.

The White Space: a boss fight on a cracked stone page, with the Eraser walking toward the Anchor, a boss bar and objectives on screen and the structure cards down the left.
A boss page: the Eraser is removing the world, one tile at a time.
The First Page on a meadow board, with a hole of Void torn in it, enemies reaching the World Anchor and its health bar dropping.
Enemies get through, and the ground they cross is already giving way.
The Crystal Seam: a mossy stone page with blocks of Void cut through it, before the first wave.
Every page is a different board, with its own shape, ground and waves.
The campaign map: a parchment chart of linked pages, each with its stars, with the selected page’s details to the right.

What it is

A defence that falls apart on purpose.

  • Ground that decays

Every tile cracks, frays and falls into the Void on a timer, faster beside the tear. You are defending a page that is coming apart.

  • Cut The Thread

Unmake your own ground to drop whatever is standing on it into the Void. It counts as a kill, and it pays more than a turret would.

  • Seven ways to build

Shoot, break armour, mend, steady the ground, shove, earn Thread, or bridge a hole. Each structure does one job well.

  • Bosses and world events

The Eraser, the Crystal Golem and the Void Mage hold the hard pages, and from the fourth wave the page itself starts to interfere.

  • Edits to your tools

Stars pay Fragments, and Fragments unlock Edits: permanent rewrites to one of your tools. Carry three into a page, though some refuse to sit together.

  • Plays in your browser

No install, no account and no wallet. Scores land on the boards as you play, and it works with a mouse or on touch.

Before you play

Good to know.

  • The first load is big

The game comes to roughly 25 MB, because the whole thing runs in your browser. It loads once and is then cached.

  • Mouse or touch

Click a card, then a tile. On a phone, tap and confirm, pinch to zoom, and turn the phone on its side, because the page is wider than it is tall.

  • No sign-up

Scores land on the leaderboards as you play, with no account and no wallet. A wallet is only needed to claim a prize, never to play or to rank.
